Fall Activities 2024
A turning of the seasons brings new activities for all! Depending on your locale there are usually so many fun fall activities to choose from. One of the best ways to enjoy the cooler season is to get ahead of the game and sus out the best ideas for your family.
Here at Strongsuit, we have a plethora of suggestions and lots of experience helping our members find the greatest fall experiences.
Activities
Pumpkin Patches: Visiting a pumpkin patch is a quintessential activity for all ages. Take your time roaming through rows of pumpkins and don’t be afraid to capture those Instagram-worthy photos amidst the autumn experience. Pick the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating and let your little ones enjoy the farm experience.
Corn Mazes: You will see corn mazes at a lot of pumpkin patches but we wanted to highlight this one on its own. Test out your family’s communication and navigation skills, get a little lost together, and enjoy the feeling of success when you finally make it out. If you have older kiddos then raise the adrenaline by finding a haunted corn maze in your area.
Apple Orchards: What a delicious activity that keeps on giving long after you leave! Find a local orchard where you can enjoy the fall foliage, pick your produce, and use it to make sweet treats with the family long after you are gone. Lots of U-pick orchards also have some of their own delicious products like apple cider, which you can purchase as well. Even plan out a picnic to take in the autumn air just a little longer.
Haunted Houses: If your family is a thrill-seeking bunch then haunted houses are for you! There are a range of haunted houses from minor hair-raises to full spine-chilling experiences. Find the best fit for your family and enjoy making the best memories with each other.
Leaf Peeping: If you have yet to hear of this awesome activity you will want to be in the know and early! Leaf peeping or fall foliage tours are free driving routes your family can take in different areas throughout the US to marvel at the beautiful changing colors of the season. Some places are earlier than others, for example seeing the aspens in Colorado will be September 22nd - October 3rd. However, in New England, you can start in late September but make plans all the way through early November depending on your chosen location.
Advice from our MSS
The weekend tickets can be very busy and hard to secure, by getting ahead of the curve and planning things in early September you are setting yourself and your family up for success!
Have Strongsuit check your desired apple-picking date beforehand. Some orchards don’t have apples ready or finish early for the season, especially in the northeast.
Don’t wait until the last week of October to buy your pumpkins. Pumpkins can last a while and you want to get the best pick, so pick early and display them before carving.
Plan out your leaf peeping tours at least a month out, make sure you leave plenty of time for stopping and taking in the site but also know there might be heavy traffic. If you make it an overnight your time is usually less stressful.
