Spring Break - Strongsuit to the Rescue
Spring break can be a fun time for a trip but that is not always the case for every family. Sometimes we reserve that big trip for the summer or another time of the year. So what is a family to do when spring break rolls around? That is where we come in.
Many of the best recommendations are location-dependent, which is where we like to start. Finding great activities can limit your options if you live somewhere where the weather is still wintery. The most important thing for parents, though, is making sure that the kids stay active and stimulated with activities.
SWIMMING
These will mostly be your local indoor recreation centers, but there are occasional indoor resorts that can be an easy day trip. Often, you don’t need to be an overnight guest at these resorts, and you can easily get a day pass to some of the most fun indoor water parks the country has to offer.
JUMP PARKS/INDOOR PLAY PLACE
The popularity of these businesses is becoming more and more common. These can range from places like Urban Air to smaller venues for climbing and exploring. Depending on the age of your kiddos these are a great way to find some interactive fun and energy burning.
CHILDREN MUSEUMS
Another great way to keep the learning and fun going during break without being cooped up. These museums usually cater to a range of ages and can help you find continued things that your kids like. There are even ones that have special classes like cooking or science-based courses they can enroll in.
STAY-AT-HOME OPTIONS
Not all families have the luxury of time off and/or childcare during these longer holidays. This can force families and parents to get creative. Some of the best ideas are those that keep kids active and/or stimulated. One favorite around Strongsuit is at-home science experiments, there are so many great options available as kits like Amazon has or you can DIY it and get some specific items to teach your kids all different parts of the science world.
Another great option is finding some shows that will help your kids get their wiggles out. One favorite from Strongsuit is Miss Rachel for the younger crowd or Cosmic Kids Yoga, both on YouTube. Miss Rachel has songs, developmentally appropriate videos, and dancing options. Cosmic Kids Yoga has many different-themed yoga videos, from dinosaurs to Frozen, that will entertain your kids and also keep them moving.
