Valentine’s Day Prep
Valentine’s Day is coming up and although you might think it is as simple as chocolates and flowers, think again. For our parents at Strongsuit, it is so much more than just a sweet gesture on the big day. There are classroom parties, goodies to find, crafts to set up, and of course Valentine’s to hand out. The mental load of Valentine’s Day can easily get overwhelming trying to make it special for everyone, which is why Strongsuit is here to help.
We take pride in our ability to reduce the mental load of the working parent and also still give the gift of time and peace back to their day. Letting us handle the special occasions allows you to be present and enjoy rather than checking things off your list. Here are some of the ways we have helped our members so far this year.
CRAFTS
For anyone with kids that are elementary age or younger, then Valentine’s Day crafts are right up your alley. Whether these are brought to the classroom or just something fun for the family to do at home, we recommend all of these for a creative and festive celebration. Little artists will love making things of their own design on these Target paintable wood heart blocks, or make a lovely windowsill felt heart flowerpot from Oriental Trading. Finally, if you have older kids then the new trending craft of looming might interest them. Check out this fun latch hook art from Amazon, it might even open up a whole new craft world they have never seen before.
DECOR
Making your space festive doesn't have to be all cheesy. Just a few items can bring in the fun and fill your heart with joy. Create a fun entrance to your home with this welcome mat from Wayfair. Snuggle up and get cozy with this Pottery Barn pillow. Even get festive for the kids or a special evening with these honeycomb heart pom poms from Amazon.
CLASSROOM VALENTINES
The classroom Valentine’s can always be a head-scratcher. Unless your child knows exactly what they want (and doesn’t change their mind over and over) then this can leave you searching endless options for hours and hours. Leave it to Strongsuit to find not only age-appropriate Valentine’s to hand out at school but on-trend and easy to order too. Here are our favorite Valentine’s for elementary and preschool-aged kids. Keep it simple and fun with these Play-Doh Valentines, or farm animals on wheels from Amazon, or stay on trend with Bluey Valentines from Target. Keep the fun going with these Pop-It Valentines from Amazon, Slap-it Bracelets from Etsy, and our personal favorite Adopt-A-Valentines from Paper Source.
GIFTS FOR HIM
Getting him the best gift can be frustrating, you don’t want to forget him but you also want something unique. We can help with that at Strongsuit. Some of our favorite items for him you wouldn’t even have thought of. Keep it sentimental with this map of where it all began from Positive Prints, or give him something delicious with the beef jerky bouquet from Manly Man Co. If he is the stylish type then the bifold wallet from Fossil will be just the ticket. Or for the outdoor enthusiasts, one of our favs is the Mesa Tabletop Fire Pit from Solo Stove.
GIFTS FOR HER
This is the perfect opportunity to make her feel special and get her something that stands out. Flowers and chocolates are always great standbys but let her know you spent time and thought to get something unique (or let us do that for you). Get something that adds to the ambiance like this Capri Blue Volcano Candle from Anthropologie, or indulge in something sweet with this breakable chocolate heart from Simply Chocolate. If you know her style is important to her then look no further than this understated heart sweater from Nordstrom, a classic scent of Coco Mademoiselle Chanel Eau de Pafum from Sephora, or a simple diamond necklace from Mejuri. Finally, hit a self-care note by recognizing her need to take care of herself with these Champagne and Rose shower steamers from Uncommon Goods.
GIFTS FOR KIDS
Parents don’t always think about getting their kids a gift but this can be a simple and easy way to show them that they are loved. Keep it sweet with this Valentine's cookie tin from Williams Sonoma. Give them something squishy to love back like this Squishmallow or a heart-shaped cross-body purse from Jellycat on Amazon. Finally, get them things to do together like this heart wreath activity from LEGO on Amazon, or read an endearing book like Little Blue Truck Valentine. There is always something that Strongsuit can find that will convey your love to your kiddos while keeping it fun
